I teach an intuitive eating approach to food that helps empower you and create a positive relationship with food. Traditional deprivation-based diets don’t work because they are based on unsustainable will power. Diet culture rules tell you what to eat and disempower your body’s wisdom. By tapping into the conscious eater within, you begin to empower yourself and learn to listen to your body’s wisdom.
Each person has their own path to health and wellness. I’m here to listen deeply to your unique situation. I help support and guide you through the process using my intuition, my Pillars of Health (below) and your body wisdom. I help you get on the right path to creating a new healthy you. I spent my 20’s in the tech industry, but soon found myself drawn to health. After getting my Masters in Health Education, I worked in corporate wellness, taught holistic health classes and provided health coaching.
In my 40’s I started to have health challenges. Even with my health awareness, I had inflammation, foggy brain, low energy, mood swings and poor sleep. I remember spending 15 minutes with my toddler daughter planting some pansies, and then being painfully sore for a week! It was my wake-up call to get some help. I learned that my low thyroid is really Hashimotos autoimmune disease. I improved my sleep and reduced my stress. I started experimenting with my diet. Through my own wellness journey, I developed the Pillars of Health (a customizable holistic approach to helping people feel better in their body).
Over time all of these little things I did made a huge difference in how I feel! Now I’ve felt great for years! I have energy to do what I want to do. I’ve learned to REALLY listen to my individual body. I continue to apply the Pillars of Health to my own life as I help others apply the Pillars to their life. I love listening deeply to your situation and using my intuition to help you learn to listen to your body and move forward on your health journey.
I have been studying holistic health, wellness, personal growth and a variety of nutrition theories for 20 years – personally and professionally. I have my Masters in Health Education and worked in Corporate Wellness teaching and coaching. I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition – where I learned innovated coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques and over 100 dietary theories – gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegetarian, macrobiotics and everything in between.
Pillars of Health
The Pillars of Health are a flexible framework to look at what’s happening in your life relative to health and help you understand how to create balance & optimal health for YOU. All the Pillars work together to create optimal health. They are integrated on many levels in many ways. I consider Eating (Heal your relationship with food) to be the primary core pillar that we initially review. Which Pillar we address next and the order is based on what’s happening with your body, your life and what you feel drawn to.
EATING - Heal your relationship with food
What if you had a conscious relationship with food which freed you from self judgement and dieting rules? There is a lot of misinformation and confusion in our society and the diet culture about how we “should” eat that creates a confusing relationship with food that is disempowering. Using an intuitive non-diet approach to eating creates freedom and self-empowerment allowing you to stop obsessing over what you do or don’t eat. As an intuitive eater you make conscious choices about how to eat that feel good for your body and mind.
SELF-AWARENESS - Cultivate healthy self-talk
The stories we tell ourselves about health habits, attitudes and lifestyle rules deeply affect how we see and react to our bodies. When you are free of debilitating self-talk you are empowered to move forward on your health journey with gratitude and appreciation for your body.
MOVEMENT - Find balance for your physical body
Your body needs both gentle movement and quality sleep to create physical balance. Moving your body doesn’t need to be a punishment. It can be enjoyable activities like walking, dancing, hiking, gardening or yoga. At the end of the day good sleep habits and quality sleep allow your physical body to be rejuvenated, creating a balanced energized body.
SPIRITUALITY - Develop inner peace & awareness
Connecting with your inner self helps you to reduce stress and create the self-awareness needed to transform your health. Explore what is the best way for you to quiet your mind and connect with your inner world. Trying various styles of meditation, Qi Gong or mindfulness allows you to find the best way to experience a deep inner peace.
NUTRITION - Discover which foods heal YOUR body
What foods you eat makes a difference in how you fuel your body and how you feel. Increase your nutrition knowledge and explore how specific food choices make a difference for YOUR individual body. Small healthy food changes can make a big difference in how you feel and lead to big health improvements.
FUN - Balance and feed your soul
Living a life that is out of alignment with your true nature, is draining and makes it more difficult to improve health. In this pillar we look at letting go of the “shoulds” and unfulfilling elements of your life, and reimagine a life that feels fun and balanced. It may be a combination of your work, relationships, family or hobbies that feed your unique soul.
